Coping and Getting through the Holidays đ
âTis the Season! Of Holiday Cheer?!?
At least thatâs what we think every year - until the stress of the Holidays with the food, shopping, parties starts to hit us ⌠then weâre too anxious to be done with the holidays altogether and dismiss the things that really matter the most.
Here are a just a few tips on coping and getting through the Holidays - unscathed đ
Do NOT give up your workouts - I repeat - DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR WORKOUTS!! No, this is not because I own a fitness studio - itâs because itâs TOO important to YOUR sanity to stop. Biggest way to relieve stress - MOVE your body!
a. finding it hard to make it to the studio daily? Get a partner! Keep yourself accountable - and them! (oh, and p.s. - weâre running a great partner membership đ- just fyi)
Limit your alcohol. Ohhh⌠âtis the season, right?!? For every drink you consume, drink a glass or bottle of water in between. This will literally cut your alcohol intake in half - and prevent you from getting a little too tipsy đ¸ (which keeps you from your workout the next day) đĽ´
Instead of buying gifts for EVERYONE - draw names, or do a gift exchange
And instead of BUYING gifts - how about making them ⌠you donât have to be crafty - you can make a meal, or spend a day cleaning their house, or laundry ( one of my gifts to my parents was putting up their outdoor lights every year after they couldnât do it themselves - they loved it and were able to continue enjoying the lights right outside their front window)
Limit your sweets - I know, itâs so hard because there are soooo many good cookies and candies around đ° - and of course, itâs OK to indulge. However, keep a bag of ready to eat cut up vegetables in your fridge - this way instead of reaching for the sweets on impulse when you want something to much on - grab the veggies instead , or at least start with them to fill you up a little bit. This is an easy grab when you get home from work to munch on while preparing dinner.
When you leave the house - expect it to be crazy out there ⌠there is going to be more traffic, and more people at the stores and everyone is going to be in a rush! Stay patient and keep calm (Stay Calm and Carry On!) đ - itâs a real thing. When you head out, give yourself those few extra minutes so youâre not rushing or getting caught in the frenzy and can maintain patience. And fortunately for us - we can shop online too!
Remember what the holidays are about for you - whether itâs being with family, sharing your talents, giving a special gift to someone, staying healthy, your faith - remember those things that are most important this holiday season and reflect on those each and every day đ
In all - I wish you a very Blessed and Merriest of Holidays!
